Susan Weidmann, Ph.D. has been working in the tourism landscape for over 15 years. After a career as a higher education financial administrator, she left it all behind to travel solo through South America. Becoming very intersted in sustainable travel, she left the US behind to study for a master’s degree in Ecotourism in the United Kingdom. After working in lodge management and sustainable consulting for a few years, she decided to pursue a Ph.D. focused on an area of tourism that she loves—haunted house attractions, ghost tours, and haunted history!

Now a university professor of tourism and marketing, she has also worked in a variety of tourism roles. She has been an invited speaker worldwide to talk about haunted tourism, and publishes academic and industry reports on haunted tourism, immersive horror attractions, and Halloween and dark event planning.
